Kerala Fish Curry

Kerala fish curry is a spicy and hot fish recipe that will fill your taste buds with flavor.Its a very popular dish in kerala which is part of everyday cuisine.It tastes best when prepared in the traditional clay dish called chatty.A delicious recipe with fish pieces blended in a mix of spicy tomato and tamarind gravy.It tastes best with rice and rotis.

Cooking time : 25 minutes
Serves : 4

Ingredients :
Fish - 500gm
Onions - 1(finely chopped)
Tomato - 1
Garlic paste - 1 tspn
Ginger paste - 1 tspn
Chilli powder - 3 tspn
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
Mustard seeds - 1 tspn
Curry leaves - 1 stem
Tamarind pulp- 1 tblpsn
Coconut oil or Refined oil - 1 tblspn

Method of preparation :

1.Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds and curry leaves to it.When they splutter add the onions and tomatoes and saute for 5 minutes.Soak tamarind pulp in 1/2 cup of water and keep aside.
2.Add garlic paste, ginger paste, chilli powder and turmeric powder and salt and saute for 10 minutes.
3.Add tamarind water and cook for 5 minutes.
4.Add the fish pieces and cook for 10 minutes.The spicy tasty kerala fish curry is ready.
