Palak Dal (Lentil Spinach Curry)

Palak Dal is an easy and healthy recipe. It's a spicy Indian dish rich in fibre and nutrients.You can find different versions of this recipe as it is prepared in almost every state of India in their own unique styles.I am sharing my recipe here. The best thing I like about this recipe is I don't add any oil at all.It's one of the simplest recipe and goes well with almost anything you have at home, be it plain rice, rotis or chappatis.
Cooking Time : 15 minutes
Serves : 4

Ingredients :

Toor Dal - 1cup (You can use any dal of your choice)
Spinach(Palak) - 1 whole bunch
Tomato - 1
Chilli powder - 1 tspn
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
Garlic paste - 2 tspn
Fennel seeds - 1 tspn
Water- 1-2 cups
Butter - 1 tspn(Optional)
Salt to taste

Method of Preparation :

1. Add the dal, chopped tomatoes,chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and water in a pressure cooker and cook for 10 minutes in medium flame.

2.Add spinach, fennel seeds and garlic paste and cook till the spinach is tender.

3.Add butter before serving(optional) and serve hot with rice or chappatis.
