Carrot Thaalichadu



Carrot Thaalichadu is a simple and easy to make kerala dish.It tastes best with a combination of rice and fish curry.


Cooking Time : 25 min
Serves : 6
Ingredients :
Carrot - 3
Tomato - 1
Curry leaves - 1 stem
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tspn
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tspn
Coriander powder - 2 tspn
Green chillies - 4
Garlic paste- 2 tspn
Ginger paste - 2 tspn
Coconut Milk - 1 tin
Olive oil or Refined oil - 2 tblspn
Salt to taste
Method of Preparation :
1.Heat oil in a skillet and add the finely chopped carrots(Small cubes) to it.Add turmeric powder and salt.
2.Fry till the carrot gets cooked(10 minutes in medium flame).

3.Add garlic paste, ginger paste, green chillies, fennel seeds, salt and coriander powder.

4.Add tomato and stir for 5 minutes.

5.Add 1/2 cup of water and stir for 5 minutes

6. Add coconut milk and cook for 5 minutes.Turn off the flame before coconut milk starts boiling.

7.Heat oil in another pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves to it.When the mustard seeds pop turn off the flame and add this into the curry mixture and mix well. Your carrot thaalichadu is ready to serve.
